RYDAHOLMS CHURCH (1)

Between Horda and Rydaholm lies our beautiful church. The double steeple is a remnaint of the 1100s, though the church was rebuilt during the 1700s. The medieval stonework displays the influenes of Skåne. In the vestibule you will find the country's oldest ell-rod, RYDAHOLMS-ALNEN, once used as a national standard unit of measure.

SMÅLANDS CAR & TOY MUSEUM (2)

An outing for the entire family, well worth a visit. Here you can see beautiful automobiles and other vehicles in era-faithfull settings. There is also a section with antique toys, and another with self-playing instruments. You can also experience an old General Store as it originally looked.

HÖGAKULL NATURAL RESERVE (3)

Högakull (High Hill) certainly lives up to it's name. From these high meadows one has a beautiful view over lake Rymmen. The hayfields have been tended in the same manner since the beginning of the 1800s. In the summer the hay is cut, and in the fall the area is grazed. According to tradition, there is also a precipice known as the "ätte-stupa". The distraught or those "suffering" from old age could throw them-
selves from this cliff to -quickly- leave this life behind them.
Within the reserve there are tables, grilling areas, and toilets.

GETARYGGARNA (4)

Getatryggarna (Goats backs) is the local name for a scenic stretch of road west of Rydaholm. The road winds through a beech forest on the "back" of a rolling ridge -hence the name. Along the edges of the ridge, one can see ancient monuments and hayfields.

BACKSTUGAN "Blåsutas"(1)

Rebuilt in 1993 on the original spot as a memorial to its time in Upplid. Beside the timber cabin in the Horda Folkpark, this is the parish's only existing reminder of how the people lived and the conditions in which they lived.
Open daily through the summer.
